In light of COVID-19, we will be offering free telenursing consultations till the end of this year to assist seniors and their family caregivers. The consultations with Singapore-registered nurses will be conducted via email, messages, scheduled phone or video calls to anyone around the world who needs our help.

Please note that our nursing consultations do not replace doctor visits and we are unable to provide any diagnosis for your loved one’s medical conditions. However, our nurses can remotely guide you on how to monitor and manage chronic diseases and advise you on the most appropriate course of action if you or your loved one requires care or medical attention.

Elderly with several medical conditions may have several prescription regimes to follow. Keeping to each plan closely is key to managing the medical conditions well. This can be done through taking the right medications at the prescribed dose and at the right time, understanding the purpose of each medication, taking the medications consistently and seeking help as needed.

To manage your high blood pressure, try reducing your intake of salt and fat. For instance, replace excessive salt with spices and herbs for flavouring. Get your body moving and exercise regularly. This not only strengthens your heart but also helps to destress and relax. Also remember to monitor your blood pressure and seek your doctor's advice if your blood pressure is regularly more than 130/80mmHg!

Caring for seniors requires communicating effectively with them. Giving them the chance to express their feelings, empathising and respecting them, and letting them maintain control of their life can positively impact your relationships. Also be considerate when speaking to the elderly by adjusting your speed and tone of speech, maintain eye contact when speaking, and avoid long complicated sentences.
